LISA DE LAZZARI & PETER WALLER
About Us
“The first time I ever heard and danced Tango, I had a feeling that I had known this forever. I felt such a connection with the music through my heart and my head, that I knew I would never want to stop dancing tango.”

Meet the Founders

Our Story
Lisa and Peter began their Tango journey in Sydney in 1998. With only early ballet training for Lisa and little prior dance experience for Peter, they were immediately captivated by the art of Tango.
Following their first study trip to Buenos Aires in 1999, they founded Club de Tango, determined to establish an authentic Tango community in Sydney. They created the city’s first weekly Milonga at Glebe Town Hall, and later opened the first Milonga and Tango Bar ® in Rose Bay.
Today, Club de Tango stands as Sydney’s longest-running Tango school. Over the past 27 years, Lisa and Peter have taught hundreds of people the authentic Tango Argentino, shaping Sydney’s vibrant Tango scene through their dedication, classes, Milongas, and performances.
Experience & Teaching
Lisa and Peter have trained extensively with many of the great Masters of Tango Argentino and have danced at the finest Milongas in Buenos Aires. Their teaching draws upon both traditional and contemporary Argentine techniques used by leading dancers worldwide.
Their influence extends across Australia - from Sydney to Canberra, Darwin, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Tasmania, and Newcastle - and internationally to Singapore. Their students hold the most successful record at the Australian Tango Championships, with many now teaching Tango themselves.
