Direct from sell out seasons in London and New York, Estampas Porteñas, Argentina’s most celebrated dance company, makes its triumphant return to Sydney with their spectacular dance production, TANGO FIRE. The company - direct from Buenos Aires - features 10 sensational dancers accompanied by one of Argentina’s finest singers and a quartet of brilliant young musicians, Quatrotango.TANGO FIRE is an irresistible journey through the history of this most seductive of dance forms. Period duets evoke the glitter and danger of the barrios where the dance was born, and the heady nostalgia of the early dance halls where it was popularised, while the group's modern choreography is edged with the sharpness and sophistication of contemporary Argentina.
This exciting show combines the rawness and sophistication, sexy and sensual side of Tango in an evening of unforgettable spectacle. TANGO FIRE is at the Theatre Royal from 1st July. BOOK NOW!!

Our second trip to the Top End was as great success, with many people attending the workshops and including many newcomers. We performed on the Tuesday night with AusDance, part of "Four on the Floor", plus were interviewed by the ABC and podcast.
We also managed to spend three days in Kakadu, spending a relaxing time... watching for crocodiles.
Special thanks and appreciated go to the Belinda & Chris Glasby, Kelly Hansen & Chris Hart, for organising the workshops and our stay.

Australian Tango Championships 2007
What an amazing Easter Sunday at the Sydney Opera House.
Tango lovers from around Australia came to witness an entertaining afternoon and evening of Tango. The afternoon commenced with the Semi Finals of both Salon Tango and Stage Tango, plus interludes by the Buenos Aires "Quarteto de Tango" as well as performances by Gaspar Godoy & Gisela Galeassi, Sergio Cortazzo & Soledad Rivero, Fabio Robles & Ana Andre.
Then, following the announcement of the 10 couples for the Salon Finals, the evening commenced with a fusion of the Didgeridoo & Bandoneon and the ten Salon couples and five Stage contestants danced for us again for the chance to become winners for 2007.
Then while the judges deliberated, we were treated to more tango performances by the three couples, plus the wonderful tango music from the Quarteto.
Following came the announcements that brought much joy to the Finalists, and to us at "Club de Tango"

Australian Tango Championships - June 2006
This year the Australian Salon Tango Championship first place was award to our friend and "Club de Tango" teacher Clare Hunt, plus our friend Chanop "Tim" Silap-Anan from Canberra. They both represented Australia in finals of the World Championships, held in Buenos Aires, but were unable to bring back the any titles this year, but did manage to bring back other trophies.... shoes and cd's!
But we were able to get our hands on a photo from the Championships showing Clare & Tim on centre stage.
Our December weekend in Adelaide was a great success, with well attended workshops in Milonga, Nuevo, Valz and Fundamentals, plus a fantastic night at Siempre Tango's Christmas Milonga. There is a great write up and some very favorable comments on their website, ..... .... which is greatly appreciated!
So, we are very pleased to be invited again, this time to participate in " Tangomania 2006 ", held over Easter, in beautiful North Adelaide.

Australian Regional Tango Championships - July 2005
Only 10 couples made it to the Sydney Opera House finals, and " Club De Tango" had 4 out of the 7 Sydney couples in the final, making us by far the most successful tango school with the majority of finalists.Clare & Mauricio, Zoe & George, Olivia and Craig, Nerylin & Charles (and we had a hand in 2 of the other couples as well).
We are very proud, we are rapt, and we think you guys should hold your heads high. The competition was very very close, with the couples from Perth and Melbourne placing 1st and 2nd.
Club de Tango can also provide choreographed courses for Weddings, plus provide professional Performances for any occasion.
After our recent trip to Buenos Aires (March 2008) Lisa has stocked up with more wonder tango shoes........ sorry guys, just for ladies.
