Darwin Tango Workshops

with "Club de Tango"

Peter & Lisa, the principals of "Club de Tango" are very enthusiastic about their third trip to Darwin and are equally pleased to have been invited by "Northern Tango" to share their Tango experience again with the Tango lovers of the Northern Territory.

Their workshops are styled on the authentic methods of the dance. Mainly the control of energy and the connection one shares with their partner to achieve a well balanced and comfortable partnership between the Leader & Follower. When these fundamentals are applied, ..................... two people can really dance as one!

Explanations and demonstrations will be given on each topic so that basic movements can be lead & followed, without the thought of a choreographed movement, but with the ultimate result of improvisation, ........... which is the true essence of Tango.

The workshops are suitable for complete Beginners or those with tango experience, because there will be techniques that will improve your dance, and both Peter & Lisa will provide individual feedback during the workshop.

You will also get to the chance to dance tango at the Saturday night Milonga, plus Peter & Lisa will be available for Private Lessons for those wanting to improve their dance even further.

Saturday 30th August 2008 - Venue at Coconut Grove

Time Workshop Topic

2.00pm - 3.30pm Tango I
Learn the fundamental techniques to dance tango, including the "tango walk", Ochos, changes in direction, and more importantly - posture, plus energy & connection with your partner. Suitable for complete Beginners or those with tango experience who want to improve their dance.

4.00pm - 5.30pm Tango II
Continuation - learn how to achieve comfortable & controlled Giros (wheels) with different starting & finishing positions.

Sunday 31st August 2008 - Venue at Coconut Grove

Time Workshop Topic

2.00pm - 3.30pm Milonga
Learn the essentials of this fun and exciting dance, as well as the secrets to help you keep the joyful rhythm of Milonga.

4.00pm - 5.30pm Vals
The Argentine Vals is a beautiful rhythm and during this class we will help you discover the timing and fundamental movements to make you grace the floor with this flowing style of dance.

Monday 1st September 2008 - Venue at Nightcliff

Time Workshop Topic

6.00pm - 7.30pm Salon Tango I
Essential techniques for Leaders & Followers to achieve free flowing dance in the Salon, with emphasis to timing, connection, giros and most importantly "Tango Etiquette" for the dance floor.

8.00pm - 9.30pm Salon Tango II
This workshop is a continuation of Salon Tango I, were we explore more possibilities, plus some of the characteristic movements typical of the dance floors in Buenos Aires.

NB: Each class will have emphasis on musicality and a Class Summary will be provided at the end.

La Milonga

Plus........., on Saturday 30th August 2008, come along to
"La Milonga" where you will be able to dance tango from selections by DJ De Lazzari, plus get the chance to see some wonderful tango performances.

The night is held in conjunction with a Swing (Lindy Hop) night organised by Carmen.
